An Inevitable Judgement Day2007-02-04Lately, there have been some secular as well as appalling behaviour from the youth in society and therefore this question must be asked: "Youth, do you think that judgment will be passed on us?" The truth is, we will not be excluded or exempt on Judgment Day. We too have to live righteous lives in order to attain a place in heaven. Since the faith by which we live supports this, why do we ignore the laws of our God and procrastinate repenting and living a godly life; turn our backs on our Creator, and dwell in evil doings?
Young men and women the future is ours, but our preparations to attain it are questionable. It seems as if we have our priorities in ascending order, putting the least important first and the most last. Do we value our technological devices and friends more than our Heavenly Father? So then why is it that we come to church on Sunday mornings to congregate and give God his praises for only two hours, but we find ourselves texting our friends when we should be attentive to the word of God? Does our pride restrain us from the truth and way of God? Proverbs 8 and part of verse 13 says, "The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil, pride and arrogance." Children of God we have to set the standards for the ungodly.
Let us stop making excuses for our wayward actions. We boast and say that we are young adults and we should be treated like young adults, but our behaviour has gone beyond that of humanity. If our lives were to end suddenly, what excuse will we present to God for falling short of his glory?
We need to stop changing the definition of what is good from bad.
l) Disobedience to parents is not something right as Ephesians 6: 1-2 says, "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right, Honour thy father and thy mother which is the first commandment with promise."
2) Loving earthly pleasures is wrong. 1 St John chapter 2:15 says, "Love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the father is not in him."
3) Wasting time in school is also wrong. Proverbs 4: 7 says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting get understanding."
Young people, our time is now to make things right with our God. Let us start now to make an attempt to secure out future and a place in heaven. We weren't created by the things of the world, so therefore we cannot live for the things of the world. Let us repent now, so on the Day of Judgment we would not say, "Father I ran out of time." Don't think that the Lord is not coming just because it is already 2007, and he has not returned as yet. 2 Peter 3: 9 says, "The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance."
Our Father has given us more than enough time, so let us use this day to rebuild or to start afresh our lives in Christ.
Amen.
