Christmas Concert Review2008-12-21
 |
The annual Christmas Concert at St George''s Parish Church took place last Monday 15 December and the church was, as usual, full of happy and appreciative people.
Congratulations to Miss Pamela Wall for presenting yet another successful evening.

The line-up still favours solo singers but this time we heard a violinist [Peace Corps, and there surely is an untapped source of talent] and very refreshing that was. In order to enable those seated behind one of the many pillars a view of the action, a large screen had been erected and the concert was beamed live on to it. Unfortunately, there was nobody to direct the shots, so we went from performer to crowd and back in fairly quick succession which broke up the continuity, to say nothing of bringing on incipient mal de mer.
''Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day,'' a tricky piece, was executed ably by the St George''s Senior Choir and there were some sweet soprano voices coming through in the Junior Choir. The steel pans from Cayon High School were as ''Pantastic'' as ever and induced a merry feeling.
At the end of the evening a glowing tribute was paid to Mrs Raita Sawyer, who is leaving St Kitts next week, a gesture so patently missing from her own church at a concert on 7 December. That she will be missed is an understatement. That she has raised the standard of music and touched the lives of many of us here needs to be shouted from the rafters. Yassoo, fili mas.
