COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Our branch has tried hard to get more engaged in our surrounding community and we feel this objective has been achieved as we are presently connected to a few community projects.

ST. PETER’S SCHOLISTIC WARRIORS

Four of our senior members are teachers in an after school programme started by the A.Y.P.A.   They are Jolin Davis, Ciara Phillip and Gavin and Diana Williams.  They tutor children in secondary school French, Spanish, Mathematics and English respectively.  They continue to serve the community’s children even though the children continue to make their voluntary work hard and arduous.  However it is through their loyalty to the classes that A.Y.P.A. has gained a new found respect in the entire community of St. Peter’s and amongst the children that reside in it.  We want them to know that their perseverance for Christ and the church is appreciated.

PARRAY’S VILLAGE BUS STOP

At Parray’s Village, St. Peter’s there is a concrete bus stop that was first built by the past members of the St. Peter’s A.Y.P.A.  Over the years it has served the community it fell into a state of minor disrepair.  The roof was leaking in several places and graffiti had spoiled the wonderful paint job done a few years earlier.  The present members had always wanted to rehabilitate the bus stop but all preceding attempts to do so were ineffective.  Then during Youth Week 2007 we investigated the avenue of the bus stop’s renovation as our community outreach for the week’s celebration.  Even though we approached persons on extremely short notice and basically started work on the third and last day we had available to us, we managed to repaint the interior of the bus stop and the outside fashion blocks. This reconditioning breathed new life into the community and to make sure people know where to place the credit St. Peter’s Assistant Treasurer Gavin Williams painted the acronym A.Y.P.A. across the back on the inside wall of the bus stop.

SENIOR CITIZEN OUTREACH

We still keep our aged sexton Mr. Leonard Browne in good health and stead with our presents and gifts that we shower on him for his birthday.  For his 93rd birthday in November 2006 he was presented with a huge multi-purpose hamper with many useful articles of clothing, foodstuffs, accessories and toiletries.  We always have and always will take care of our adopted church member Mr. Browne.
