CHURCH INVOLVEMENT

Church attendance by members can be termed as regular and many of our members hold leadership roles in the church.  These include Altar Servers, Choir members, Fundraising Committee and Vestry members, Sunday School Teachers, Ushers, Liturgical Dance Instructors, and Parish and Assistant Youth Coordinators.

Relations with our Parish Priest are very good.  He is a former A.Y.P.A. member, who has served in all capacities that existed from branch to Diocesan level.  He encourages us, prays for us and promotes the organization every time the opportunity arises.

PRAYER-A-THON 2007

The third (3rd) annual St. Peter’s A.Y.P.A. Prayer-a-thon was held on Friday 30th March, 2007 at the St. Peter’s Community Centre under the theme “Prayer, The Christian’s Vital Breath.”  The all night activity ran from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.  The evening afforded A.Y.P.A. members and members of the congregation a chance to fellowship with each other and strengthened their prayer life through mutual support and sharing of experiences. The event was widely broadcast in church by the P.R.O. Mr. Ciaran Phillip but very few church or A.Y.P.A. members attended.  This may have been due to the relatively late notice of about 5 days prior to the event.

YOUTH SUNDAY

In keeping with our principle of worship, the group worships every first (1st) Sunday as a body during our Youth Sunday.  On this Sunday the A.Y.P.A. members will all wear their A.Y.P.A. polo shirts on which are embroidered the A.Y.P.A. badge and the name of the parish on the sleeve.  Members of the association also read lessons, do intercessions, pick up collection and perform special selections on this Sunday.

ST. PETER’S PARISH CONVENTION 2007

We also made a Power Point presentation on the work of our association at the first ever St. Peter’s Parish Convention on the Sunday traditionally known as “Low Sunday”, the 1st Sunday after Easter.  We showcased and marketed the activities undertaken by our branch of the A.Y.P.A.  Members of the congregation were impressed and satisfied with the achievements of their A.Y.P.A. and we now we made them feel proud that they had such a diligent and ingenious A.Y.P.A. in their parish.

MOTHERS’ AND FATHERS’ DAY 2007

For Mothers’ Day this year we gave all mothers in our church bookmarks with poems especially for mothers done by one of our senior members Ms. Tamaju Bass.  We also presented our A.Y.P.A. Mother of the Year, Ms. Annette Paul, with a complimentary fruit basket and balloon for her strong assistance to our association over the year.  The fathers were not left out as they were all presented with bookmarks and pens on Fathers’ Day.  Our faithful bus driver Roy Tuckett was selected as A.Y.P.A. Father of the Year and was given a fruit basket and balloon.

BIBLE STUDY

Members of the executive are present at mostly all of the bible studies and weekly devotions put on by the church.  During Lent we aimed to be represented at half of the Wednesday bible studies. This objective was successfully completed and we aim to raise the bar next year.

PALM SUNDAY AND HOLY WEEK 2007

On Palm Sunday the members of the association marched second in the community procession around CARFESTA Village wearing our organisational attire.  We also read the Passion Gospel according to Luke.  All members took part in the reading, as it was also Youth Sunday.  On the whole, the executive felt the members did a good job in the narration and reading of the gospel and the reading of the part of Jesus by the P.R.O. Mr. Ciaran Phillip was termed excellent.

Members were also present at the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services in our parish.  We were present as a uniformed body during the St. Kitts Regional Council’s Stations of the Cross Community Witness and even had to hire our own bus to transport the members there.

FAMILY FOOD FESTIVAL 2007 (TRIPLE F)

The A.Y.P.A. also participated in the inaugural St. Peter’s Parish Family Food Festival (Triple F as the Parish Priest coined it) on Saturday the 30th June 2007.  Our stall provided a Bouncy Castle and mannequin horses for the children to ride on. We did intend to cater for face painting at our stall but that service did not come through.  Our executive thought that the parents did not bring out their children to the Triple F Day; hence our stall was not as profitable as it could have been.
